The Middle Age Dude

This centerfold was inspired by our friend who designed a series of counter-ads to the anti-drug advertisements
that are well-known within our country. After he had already begun the series,
the study that proved the ads counterproductive

came out; giving more fuel to his message.

PARENTS: THE ANTI-DRUG

"Get to know their friends, families, and you won't have to wonder if you're getting the whole story. You'll know that you are. Monitoring is important, because if you don't, your kids are four times more likely to do drugs. It isn't easy. But it's worth it."

ACCOUNTABILITY. THE ANTI-DRUG WAR

It's 2006...do you know where your tax dollars are? A recent study published in Addictive Behaviors found that anti-drug ads appear to directly increase drug use among teens. Researchers warned that, "exposure to anti-marijuana advertising might not only change young viewer's attitudes to more positive toward the substance, but also might directly increase risk of using marijuana."

Teenagers aren't the only ones who are still high. So is the ONDCP's advertising budget: a hefty $100 million that could be used to treat drug addicts or fund drug education. Get to know where your tax dollare are going. Your kids will thank you for it some day.

This is a public service announcement by Students for Sensible Drug Policy. SSDP is a nation-wide network of student activists working to put an end to the failed "War on Drugs."
